My creative name is . I am a retired international lawyer living very happily with my wife (aka "Poppiekreer") and two dachshunds,
(Petrus and Basjan), in Knysna, South Africa.
Now that I have left prosecuting war criminals to others, I am at last free to indulge my true passion - cartooning. It brings me joy, but I enjoy it even more if my creations can make others smile.
And that is what this site is about.
IGI nor AMOS Post lawyering, I experimented with a number of ideas as an excuse to draw cartoons. I love telling funny stories and anecdotes and the idea of retelling these stories in a visual format appealed to me.
The next step was to create appropriate characters. It was a slow process, and only in 2015 did the two characters materialise. Then it took some more time to find names for them and for the series.
Exactly how "Ignoramus" split into Igi and Amos is fogotten, but it was a good choice. It now allows a convenient opening for the majority of the stories - "Neither Igi nor Amos ever ... but, what if?"
I hope to still publish these stories in a book, but during the tribulations of a near universal lockdown, I trust that this version may bring some joy.
LOCK UP/DOWN On 25 March, with the 21 day lockdown in South Africa about to start, the idea of Lock Up/Down spontaneously jumped into my head at three in the morning.
I posted the first four cartoons on facebook later that day. After two days, Poppiekreer rationed me to three episodes per day.
The lockdown was extended for an additional two weeks.
The adventures of Upstairs and Downstairs climaxed in episode 100 (the final episode).
You will notice how the characters, in their cramped environment, evolved from the simple cartoons of DAY 0.
With their TV sets often on, the cartoon also offers a quirky record of the universal response to the coronavirus.
The cartoon has attracted a substantial following of people who even post suggestions for twists in the plot!
